What is the ESNcard?

The ESNcard is the official membership card of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), a Europe-wide student organization that supports and enhances student mobility. Holding an ESNcard identifies you as part of an international community of over 500 sections in more than 42 countries.

Why should you get an ESNcard?

  • Access to all ESN Coimbra events: parties, trips, cultural experiences, volunteering activities and much more – more than 150 events every year!
  • Discounts with our local partners: including bars, restaurants, language learning programmes, surf schools, gyms, transportation, housing, and other essential services.
  • International perks: use your ESNcard in any ESN section across Europe to enjoy thousands of discounts and exclusive deals, including Ryanair, FlixBus, and more.

Who can get an ESNcard?

You are eligible for the ESNcard if you belong to one of the following groups:

  • Students participating in an Erasmus+ programme (study or traineeship)
  • International full-degree students in Portugal
  • Other mobility programme participants (e.g., Erasmus Mundus, ICM, etc.)
  • EVS and ESC participants
  • ESN volunteers (active at local, national or international level)
  • SPEAK Coimbra buddies and participants

How much does it cost?

Just 20€ for one year of access to a European network of opportunities, discounts and fun. This fee supports the non-profit work of ESN Coimbra and includes full access to events and discounts.

How can you get your ESNcard?

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Register below using the form provided on this page.
  2. Choose to pay online or in our office at Casa da Lusofonia, Rua Arco da Traição nº3, 3000-056.
  3. Bring the following:
    • Valid identification (Passport or ID)
    • A passport-sized photo (you can print it close to the office at Papershop Papiro)
    • 20€ in cash (if not paid online)

If you are arriving soon in Coimbra and want your ESNcard in advance, please email officemanager@esncoimbra.org with your first and last name, ID/passport number, date of birth, and phone number.

Important Notes

  • Only international (incoming) students can obtain the ESNcard from ESN Coimbra. If you are a Portuguese student going abroad, please contact the ESN section in your host city or country.
  • Plan ahead: Some discounts (e.g., Ryanair) require you to register your card 28 days in advance. Don’t delay!
  • Register your card at esncard.org after receiving it to unlock all online benefits.
